Somalia’s parliament will convene today to approve the nomination pf Prime Minister-designate Hamse Abdi Barre.
Hamse Abdi Barre has been holding a meeting in Mogadishu for the past few days, speaking with Members of the Parliament to understand better the current government’s goals for the next four years.
Last week, President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud picked Hamza Abdi Barre, a member of the lower house of parliament, as the new prime minister.
President Mohamud was expected to address parliament to request that lawmakers approve the Prime Minister’s nomination.
However, the President tested positive for COVID-19 and was in self-isolation after he had returned to Somalia on Friday from a trip to the United Arab Emirates.
