UNHCR High Representative for the Horn of Africa, Amb. Mohamed Abdi Affey and UNHCR Somalia Country Director, Magatte Guisse, held a meeting with the President’s special envoy on drought response and Humanitarian affairs, Abdirahman Abdishakur Warsame and extensively discussed UNHCR’s extensive work on refugees, IDPs and drought relief.
The President’s special envoy on drought response on his part briefed the UNHCR top country officials on the priorities of the Office of the Envoy, underlining the importance of the President’s office to drought relief and solutions for refugees and IDPs.
The two sides agreed to work closely together on how best to raise awareness of the plight of Somali refugees across the region and internally displaced persons (IDPs).
