The African Union Transition MissionĀ (ATMIS) has today concluded a three-day training for members of the Jubbaland police vetting and recruitment committee tasked with vetting and recruiting people seeking to join the police in the upcoming recruitment exercise in the region.
The committee, composed of traditional elders, civil society, women and Jubaland police officers attended the 3-day training conducted by the ATMIS police component in Kismayo to streamline the recruitment exercise which targets 300 personnel.
The verting committee will mobilise the public to enlist in the police, taking inclusivity into consideration with an aim to bolster the enforcement of law and order through community policing initiatives.
The African Union Transition Mission in Somalia is an active African Union transition and drawdown mission from peacekeeping operations in Somalia.
