Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble met with the Special Representative of the Chairperson of the African Union Commission (SRCC) for Somalia, Ambassador Francisco Madiera, to discuss AMISOM’s role in electoral security.

The high-level meeting comes on the heels of multiple Al-Shabaab attacks in Beledweyne and the capital Mogadishu.

The attack on Mogadishu’s international airport killed six people, while the twin blasts in Beledweyne killed 48 people and injured another 108.

The Prime Minister condemned the attack and underlined that such actions would not prevent the country from holding elections as soon as possible. He urged the Somali people to be extra vigilant and assist security forces.
