The Minister for Religious Affairs of the Federal Government of Somalia, Sheikh Omar Ali Roble has today received the head of the Turkish Red Crescent Society in Somalia, Orphan Kokcu in his office.
The Somali Religious Affairs Minister praised the Turkish Red Crescent Society for its support to the people of Somalia and called on them to increase their assistance during this difficult time of severe drought in the country.
The Minister requested the Turkish Red Crescent Society to pay special attention to the poor and vulnerable especially during the during the Holy month of Ramadan which is drawing near.
The Minister, who is also a member of the Drought Relief Committee appointed by Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, has recently been conducting relief work for the people affected by the severe drought in the country and holding various meetings with charities for aid support.
The head of the Turkish Red Crescent Society has promised to increase its aid support to the Somali people.
The request from the Somali government to the Turkish government comes at a time when many parts of southern and central Somalia are currently experiencing severe drought situation.
