The President of the Puntland State Saciid Abdulahi Deni has today chaired a meeting of the Puntland council of Ministers.
The meeting was attended by the Vice President of Puntland, Ahmed Elmi Osman Karaash, and discussed security, the completion of the democratic process in Puntland state, the pacification of the Sahameygaag conflict and the holding of the Parliamentary elections of the Federal Government of Somalia.
Puntland state said its committed to completing the democratic process in Puntland and the Council discussed how to expedite the holding of elections in other districts of Puntland.
“One-vote, one-person elections in Puntland is a constitutional issue, a decision that has been made since 1998, and we have begun and are committed to have it in the whole of Puntland regional state ,” Said President Saciid Abdullahi Deni
The Puntland state President has instructed the relevant Puntland authorities to work with the Electoral Commission to establish local councils in Qardho, Ufeyn and Eyl districts as soon as possible.
It’s also said that the electoral process in all other districts of Puntland will also be accelerated.
