The Puntland Ministry of Interior says it regrets the resignation of the Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Puntland Provisional Electoral Commission (TPEC).
A statement from the Puntland Ministry of Interior stated that Puntland is committed to implementing and completing the One Man One Vote elections.
“I assure the people of Puntland state, Somalia in general and the Puntland Democratization Program stakeholders in particular, that the democratization process in Puntland is a goal of social consensus and that the Government of Puntland is committed to its success.” Said a press release from the Puntland Ministry of Interior.
The statement added that “Therefore, the resignation of the Chairman of the Electoral Commission does not affect the determination of the people and the Government of Puntland to succeed in implementing and completing the elections with one person, one vote”.
“The Ministry of Interior would like to thank Chairman Guled Salah, his Deputy Jama and all the members of the Commission for their hard work in leading the polla in Ufeyn, Qardho and Eyl. The plan to complete the remaining District Elections is going as planned inshaAllah, the statement further said.
The Puntland interior ministry statement comes following yesterday’s resignation by the Puntland poll commission Chairman and his Deputy.
