Somali Defense Minister warns troops against meddling in politics

The Somali Minister for Defense, Abdikadir Mohamed Nur Jama has instructed the Somali Armed Forces to maintain their neutrality in accordance with Article 129 of the JFS Constitution.

“No one can be allowed to use the army for their own political gain,” Said Abdikadir Mohamed Nur.
He added: “We are in a time of transition. The military must uphold the rule of law and adhere to the code of conduct of the Armed Forces.

“The Somali National Army must refrain from political interference and should not take any orders that violate the law.”

The statement from the Somali Minister for Defense comes at a time when their is a bitter wrangling between the Somali President and his premier putting the Horn of Africa nation is a tense situation.
