The Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management of the Jubbaland State of Somalia has today conducted a training on Disaster Prevention and Response mechanisms for Jubbaland district officials who hail from some of the worst drought-hit districts of Badhadhe and Afmadow.
The training, which was also attended by Jubbaland scholars in Kismayo and staff from the Jubbaland Ministry of Relief and Disaster Management, will last for three days.
The training will teach on best ways on how to deal with natural and non-natural disasters and is expected to benefit 30 people representing the worst-hit areas of Jubbaland state.
Jubbaland Acting Director for Relief and Disaster Management, Abdirashid Omar Faratoon, who officiated the training said the training course will help the district officials in helping combat the adverse effects of the biting drought.
The training comes at a time of severe biting drought situation in the Jubbaland regional state of Somalia.
