The leaders of the National Consultative Assembly held a meeting last night on the internet to discuss the country’s elections.
Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble chaired a meeting of federal and state leaders.
The online meeting was also attended by the chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission. A statement from the Prime Minister’s office said the meeting focused on how to begin the process of electing members of parliament, in line with the election timetable.
The statement also said that the chairman of the Federal Electoral Commission shared a report on the commission’s activities with the Heads of the National Consultative Assembly.
The meeting came days after a meeting with regional leaders in Garowe, Puntland regional state to discuss election issues was called off indefinitely.
