The Ministry of Environment and Tourism of the Jubblanad State has yesterday inspected SomGaas Company and the Charcoal Mining Technical Center in Kismayo, Jubbaland state of Somalia.
The Jubbaland Ministry of Environment and Tourism, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is set to launch 600 Gas tanks in Kismayo to assist the people of Jubbaland in addressing the problem of deforestation.
The Jubbaland Minister for Environment and Tourism, Aideed Saleban Hashi said the widespread use of gas is beneficial to the Jubblanad state and hence bringing back the glory and the beauty of the forest cover.
Charcoal burning is said to have destroyed huge acres of forests in the Jubbaland state and thus finding a replacement in the use of gas for cooking at home is said to play a great role in maintaining the forest cover.
