Some Puntland political parties have addressed legal and technical challenges in Puntland’s electoral process.
Five political parties, Mustaqbal, Truth and Justice, Ifiye, Youth and Workers, have issued a joint statement outlining issues that they say are an obstacle to the by-elections in Qardho, Eyl and Ufeyn districts.
The organizations said the Puntland Transitional Electoral Commission (TPEC) and some political parties had created mistrust, with a recent meeting ending in a stalemate and TPEC described it as a misunderstanding.
Organizations have expressed concern about the outgoing Puntland Supreme Court and the lack of a Constitutional Court.
The organizations have also accused the Puntland government of failing to provide funds for the elections.
