The Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources of the Jubbaland state, Abbas Ali Ibrahim, said that a storm caused by strong winds blowing up from the Coast region has caused 11 boats to capsize, killing five fishermen.
He added that the storm also destroyed houses in Kismayo’s Calenley neighborhood, which is next to the sea but no casualties were reported from the incident.
The Minister for Fisheries and Marine Resources has warned the people living along the coast of the region and fishermen in the Lower Jubba region who do fishing in the sea to be careful and be warry of the ongoing storms.
