The Sudanese government has recalled its ambassador who was in neighboring Ethiopia after the two governments disagreed on conflict resolution in the region of Tigray.

A statement from Sudan’s foreign ministry said the Khartoum government had recalled its ambassador to Ethiopia after its Ethiopian counterpart refused to negotiate a solution to the Tigrean crisis.

The statement said the two governments currently do not understand how to approach the efforts of the Sudanese Prime Minister as part of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

On Saturday, a spokesman for the Ethiopian prime minister’s office said they were concerned about what he called “fraud” by the Sudanese government.

Ethiopian refugees fleeing the Tigrean region are now living in camps set up along the Sudanese border.
