Somalia to attend World Postal Union Conference in Abidjan

The Somali Minister for Communications and Technology, Abdi Sheikh Ahmed, is attending the World Postal Union Conference in the Ivorian capital, Abidjan.

Last year, the event couldn’t be called due to coronavirus global pandemic. This year’s, the event will discuss a host of issues concerning Posts around the World and the largest selection of the Director General of the World Postal Union and committees best Union, who will be serving the four-year term.

After the opening, the Minister held a meeting with the outgoing Director of UPU, Bishar Hussein, who has been chairing the organization for the past nine years, thanking him for his role in reviving the Somali Post and regaining its membership.

Somalia regained full membership of the UPU in 2019, and this will be the first election for ministry officials since the country’s collapse.
