United Nations welcomes Somali premier’s 13-member committee appointment on women representation

A statement from the United Nations Office in Somalia has welcomed the committee appointed by Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble to protect the 30% quota for women during the country’s elections.

“The United Nations in Somalia welcomes the appointment today by Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble, a 13-member advocacy committee, which is working to ensure that at least 30% of the seats in the federal parliament are for women. ”Said a statement from the UN.

The statement further said that the UN will fully support the full participation and representation of women in politics.

“The United Nations reiterates its full support for the participation and representation of Somali women in the upcoming elections.”

Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Hussein Roble has appointed a 13-member committee to work on ensuring women’s quotas during the country’s elections following complaints from Somali women.
