A hot Controversy is surrounding an amendments to the Puntland House of Representatives Rules of Procedure, with lawmakers divided.
Ahmed Kuluc, a member of Puntland’s House of Representatives, who spoke on behalf of lawmakers who boycotted the amendment to the Rules of Procedure said what happened was illegal and unconventional.
Speaking to the BBC, the lawmaker said that there was no law to amend the law to give 44 votes to the lawmakers, and that it was in direct conflict with the constitution.
“The country has a court and the parliament will be dissolved as it has happened recently and we will not accept anything illegal,” He said.
Meanwhile, members of the Puntland Parliament went on a three-day recess to read the bill to preserve Puntland’s historic sites, which was distributed yesterday.
Parliament is scheduled to reconvene on Saturday, July 17, 2021, with a bill to preserve the historic site.
