The governor of Benadir region and the mayor of Mogadishu Mr. Omar Mohamud Mohamed (Omar Filsih) has attended a ceremony in the Somali capital, Mogadishu last night to mark the liberation of the southern and central regions of the country from Italian colonial rule and the unification of the northern and southern regions.

The chairman called on the young people living in Mogadishu to participate in security matters to prevent assassinations in the capital.

Chairman Omar Finish pointed out that in recent days there has been an increase in security incidents, including explosions at youth gatherings that needs to be addressed.

The mayor of Mogadishu said security could not be maintained without the participation of civilians in the neighborhoods of Mogadishu, and blamed the insecurity acts on hidden hands by foreigners.

Security forces have carried out operations in Mogadishu in the past few hours to arrest gangs who have been harassing civilians.
