Ethiopian Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen has accused some agencies operating in the Tigray region of trying to smuggle weapons into the region.

He said Ethiopia is concerned about a campaign against how it is dealing with the situation in the Tigray region.

Demeke called on individuals and friends of the international community to stay out of Ethiopia’s internal affairs.

“It is very concerning that some members of the international community launched a campaign to constrain the unity, independence and peace by means of an excuse to continue its humanitarian assistance”

He added, “Ethiopia has evidence that they have been attempting to illegally supply weapons to terrorist groups under the pretext of humanitarian assistance, and this will not be accepted.”

Foreign Minister also said Ethiopia is committed to working with the international community to address the problem of humanitarian crisis in Tigray.
