Former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has strongly condemned the Somali government’s military training in Eritrea and said it had been involved in the fighting in northern Ethiopia.

Hassan Sheikh said the youths were initially recruited fraudulently and used for other political purposes other than military training.

Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who was the president of Somalia’s Transitional Federal Government (TFG), has said that the government should come clean.

“It is unacceptable that young Somalis sent by the federal government of Somalia are unaccounted for. The authorities behind this task must make clear to the parents and the Somali people the fate of Somali children, ” Said Hassan Sheikh.

He called on the government officials to clarify the number of youths taken to Eritrea, their whereabouts and the time they will return.

Thousands of young Somali people who were sent by the Somali government to Eritrea for military training are said to be unaccounted for and calls on the Somali government to return them has been intensifying.
