Representatives of the International Community in Somalia and the heads of the Galmudug, HirShabelle, Puntland and Jubbaland regional administrations who are still hold up in the central city of Dhusamareb held a virtual talks last night.

Reports from the meeting between representatives of the international community and regional administration leaders indicate that the country’s political issues are currently at a critical juncture.

In particular, the meeting focused on the future of the country after February 8 today when the incumbent Somali President Mohamed Abdullahi  Farmajo’s term ends.

According to the close sources, there are plans to bring together the heads of the federal and regional governments in Mogadishu in the coming days for further talks in a bid to break the poll stalemate.

The international community is now seeking to convene a meeting of Somali leaders under their auspices in the wake of Dhusamareeb conference debacle and failure to reach an agreed consensus on poll matters.
