Somali regional State leaders meet to discuss the situation in the country following the poll talks collapse

The presidents of Galmudug, Hir-Shabelle, Jubbaland, Puntland, and Southwest regional states of Somalia held a meeting in Dhusamareb last night to discuss the situation in the country and what awaits the country after February 8th when Somali President Farmajo’s term ends.

The meeting discussed the political situation in the country with the aim of finding another solution to the election issue following the collapse of the Dhusamareb conference which ended inconclusive.

According to reports, the heads of the five regional states of Somalia will remain in Dhusamareb for two more days, attending the first anniversary of the election of Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Qariye Qoorqoor.

According to reports from the meeting, the presidents of the five regional administrations will issue a joint statement on the political situation in the country.

The meeting between the heads of state, regional governments and the governor of Benadir region in Dhusamareb has not yielded any results, and this has caused a lot of concern among the political stakeholders in the country.
