Every year on December 20, the country celebrates the anniversary of the formation of the Somali Police Force.
The Somali Police Force is the oldest in the Somali Armed Forces and was established on December 20, 1943.
At the time, the country was a colony without independence and today they are celebrating the 77th anniversary of the Somali Police Force.
According to reports received by Radio Kismayo, this year will see a reduction in the number of major celebrations held each year.
Police officials have hinted that there are several reasons for this, noting that there are fears of possible suicide bombings and the current political turmoil in the country, especially in the run-up to the elections.
According to sources privy to this year’s celebrations, there will be a limited venue today, and that a small number of officials will attend.
