The federal government of Somalia has filed a pending state-level election commissions ready for training at the Peace Hotel adjacent to Mogadishu’s Aden Adde International Airport.

The submitted committees are the committees appointed by the South West State, HirShabelle and three members each by the government to include state election commissions.

The nominees did not include those representing the Galmudug administration.

Galmudug state president Ahmed Abdi Kariye Qoor Qoor has reportedly demanded a postponement of the filing of the members of the election commissions representing Galmudug after it was reported that the Galmudug state president was holed up in a meeting in Dhusamareeb.

According to sources, training will be held today at the Peace Hotel in Somalia capital Mogadishu.

The regional governments of Puntland and Jubbaland states have not yet nominated members to the country’s electoral commissions, which means that these commissions cannot function independently in the wake of growing controversy over the country’s elections.
