There has been another general delay in the 2020-21 election timetable agreed upon by the Heads of State and Government.

Today, December 1, 2020, according to the election schedule, the regions of the country and the capital Mogadishu will begin the election of members of the Upper House while the members of the House of Representatives were scheduled to be elected on 10-27 this month of December.

But there are no signs of elections in the country as a whole and even the electoral commissions have not yet been agreed upon with some regional governments refusing to nominate candidates.

Initial delays indicate a general delay in the election timetable which was due to elect a new president on February 8, 2021 ending the term of President Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo.
