Chinese health officials said that 35,183 new cases of COVID-19 were recorded on Friday, the highest number in the past three days.

No deaths have been reported by the Department of Health, but major cities are struggling with a large number of COVID-19 cases.

The areas with the highest number of new cases are the southern city of Guangzhou and the southwestern city of Chongqing.

The COVID-19 disease first started in the city of Wuhan in central China at the end of 2019 before it spread to the rest of the world.
