President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has publicly advised Somali citizens living in Al Shabaab-held areas on Monday to avoid the militants and assist government security forces as they intensify crackdown on terror militants and liberate territories.
Flanked by the Prime Minister and the leaders of Somalia’s regional states, President Mohamud declared war against the Al-Shabab “on all fronts.”
“I urge Every Somali to stay away from the areas where terrorists hide. If you are already there, I urge you to do more because the government is taking the fight to the Al-Shabab on all fronts and will liberate them from the country.”
President Mohamud made these comments after a two-day National Consultative Council meeting in Mogadishu.
Somalia’s military said that an offensive launched earlier this summer has led to the capture of dozens of villages in the Hiiraan region from Al Shabaab.
