The second Vice President of the Jubbaland state of Somalia,Abdiqadir Haji Mohamud Lugadhere has today attended a ceremony marking the International Women’s day which is globally marked on 8th of March annually, a day dedicated to women internationally.
The event was attended by the two chambers of the Jubaland state, the regional administration, the district administration, women’s groups and a host of women living in Kismayo, Jubbaland state of Somalia.
Kismayo District Commissioner for Women, Fadumo Mahamed Abdi and Women’s Commissioner for Lower Juba region, Fadumo Aden Katela who spoke at the event said that the day was a great occasion for women in Jubbaland state and the world at large and helps celebrate women’s achievement and raise awareness against biasness and equality.
The Jubbaland state Minister for Women, Family Affairs and Human Rights, Ms. Adar Ismail Jubraati, who also spoke at the forum has praised the Jubbaland state women for their hard work and progress and encouraged them to continue their work for the community and the government as well.
Jubbaland second Vice President, Abdiqadir Haji Mohamud Lugadhere has also congratulated the women during this year’s Women’s Day event celebrated today and praised the women for working towards unity, solidarity and peace in the Jubbaland state.
The International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8th of each year and was designated in 1975 by the United Nations.
The International Women’s Day is marked annually and celebrates the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women and raise awareness about women’s equality and accelerate gender parity.
