The United States has threatened to impose sanctions on Somalia if elections are delayed again.

State Department spokesman Ned Price said that on February 8, “at the end of President Farmajo’s term, the United States was ready to take any action, including visa bans, in response to further delays or actions that could jeopardize the transparency of the election process ”

The United States has issued a series of statements afterwards threatening the Somali leaders not to delay the election further, but nothing has been done yet.

Recently in Mogadishu, the Consultative Council agreed to hold parliamentary elections between the 15th of this month and the 25th of February, but many people believe that it cannot be completed.

However, it remains to be seen whether the United States will make real its promised sanctions if the Somali polls are delayed once again.
