Somali government security forces have arrested 12 Al-Shabaab terror militants in an operation in Baidoa, the capital of the South West state.
The head of the Intelligence and Security Agency of the South West Administration, Mohamud Mohamed Hassan, said security forces had succeeded in dismantling an Al-Shabaab terror network.
“We have arrested 12 Al-Shabaab members in an operation to ensure maximum security in Baidoa, Bay region. We are committed to protecting the people and the candidates during the federal parliament elections,” Said Mohamud Mohamed.
The Somali-based terror group, Al-Shabaab has not yet commented on the latest security operations in the region.
The operation comes ahead of the upcoming parliamentary elections in the South West regional state of Somalia.
