Rebel forces fighting in the conflict-torn Tigray region of northern Ethiopia have accused the African Union of taking sides, just days after the union appointed former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo as a mediator.

A TPLF spokesman said they did not oppose Mr Olusegun Obasanja’s appointment entirely but believed there would be no results from the mediation process.

TPLF spokesman Getachew Reda accused the African Union of collaborating with the Ethiopian government.
