For the second day in a row, members of the Union of Presidential Candidates are meeting in Mogadishu to discuss the current political situation in the country.
The meeting, which opened yesterday, focused on the concerns of the Union of Candidates in the bicameral election and the manner in which the Heads of State are managing the polls and the inefficiency in the Upper House elections.
Yesterday, the Union of Candidates had a heated debate on the conduct of the Upper House elections and how to prevent the Lower House elections from taking place in the same way as the Upper House elections.
Presidential candidate Dahir Mohamud Gelle, the first candidate in the Union of Candidates, announced earlier that the Upper House elections had begun in a state of disarray, prompting the Union of Candidates to hold an emergency meeting.
Tomorrow, the Union of Candidates is expected to conclude their meeting and issue a statement stating their position on the Upper House poll conduct and the upcoming Lower House elections.
