Turkey calls for urgent resolution of Somali election dispute

A statement from the Turkish Foreign Ministry has expressed concern on the political situation in the country through the current and prominent issues in the election.

Turkey has strong concerns that the violence in the last days in the capital Mogadishu erodes the stability in Somalia which was hard earned over the years.

A statement from the Turkish government said consensus between the leaders of the federal government and the regional administrations which is still unresolved is devastating and called for work in good faith among all stakeholders.

“I believe that the friendly and brotherly people of Somalia have the will and political maturity to decide their future. In the current situation, we hope to reach an agreement on the electoral process, based on a memorandum of understanding that will not be delayed.” Reads part of the statement.
